Louisville, Kentucky Speed Traps
Lexington Road near In front of Sacred Heart Academy
Metro Police are always watching for speeders along the Sacred Heart Academy stretch of Lexington Road during the mornings and afternoons. The speed limit is 25 mph during those periods — which is justifiable because of the crossing guards and the width of the road (4 lanes wide). Invariably, an unmarked Crown Vic will have someone pulled over. Sometimes there are two unmarked police vehicles — and they rarely go a minute in-between pull-overs!
Linn Station Road near Hurstbourne Lane
Speed limit is 25MPH along Linn station. Cops hide in several business parking lots with radar guns and you cannot see them until it is too late.
Springdale Road near Green Spring Drive
Marked car sits in entrance to Green Springs subdivision waiting for anyone above 35 MPH speed limit on Springdale road approaching Wolf Pen Branch.
Payne Street near Lexington Road
The Distillery Commons parking lot is where the police usually stake out to catch you. The speed limit on Payne St. is reduced to 25 mph, after turning from a 35 mph street(Lexington Rd.). It is used as an urban thoroughfare, but it does have a school and some residential, so during school hours, I agree with a lower speed limit; otherwise, the street is wide enough and has no special characteristics that make it unsafe for a moderately higher speed.
Industry Road near Runs Between 7th and 4th Streets North of Algonquin.
Industry Road runs between 7th street and 4th street just north of Algonquin Pkwy. On both sides of road behind bushes in company’s driveways, etc.
