Springfield, Massachusetts Speed Traps
The troopers will hide off to the right hand side, just after the Chestnut Street off ramp. Due to the overpass, you cannot see them until you are on top of them. It’s a big State Police Party. There are usually 3-4 cruisers, one or two officers using hand helds while the other two or three officers pull over the motorists. It’s a blatant speed trap / revenue generator. The speed limits is 45 MPH and I’ve been pulled over going 60 (which is hardly highway speeds, let alone getting ready to merge onto 91S).
State Police line-up during rush hour, AM & PM, along the Rt.291 West to I 91 South exchange. Drivers view of Speed Trap is obstruted by overpass.
All city parks are 15 mph. Enforced by city and park ranger police departments. Fines very $25.00 to $100.00 the city’s largest park (Forest Park) is very strictly enforced.
Cops wait in pairs to pull over several motorists at a time, writing speeding tickets one after the other. They dop the same on the other side of the highway in the opposite direction. No one is going the 45 mph they’ve got posted, and they’re picking people off like flies.
