Minneapolis, Minnesota Speed Traps
Stinson Boulevard near Lowery Avenue
The trap has been running for several days to point. When heading south on Stinson Blvd. two blocks past Lowery Avenue they are waiting and collecting people from both north & south-bound traffic. The speed changes from 30 mph to 25 mph in one block and I was within a couple miles of the 25 mph limit and they stuck me.
Interstate 35W near Interstate 694
The entire stretch of I-35W between highway 36 and Highway 10 (610) is often enforced by State Patrol. They are usually on the other side of over passes and on in the median where you cant see them.
Stay out of the left lane!
Interstate 94
On I-94 Between 57th Ave in Brooklyn Center to I-394 in Downtown Minneapolis, The State Patrol, Minneapolis PD, and sometimes multi agencies will park one squad in the grass, directly facing traffic with radar. If working alone they will pull out and get you for 11 MPH or more over the limit. When using multi officers, they will have as many as 6 waiting squads waiting 1/2 mile down the road and cars will be stopped in groups. State Patrol usually does "team style" stops during daylight hours. During the night, State Patrol and Minneapolis PD will work alone or with one other squad. This is a 60 MPH zone, recently upped from 55 and is mostly straight away, so it’s easy to inadvertantly speed on this approx. 5 mile stretch of freeway.
US Highway 5 near Post Road Exit
As you head north on 5 after splitting off from 494 Eastbound, you find yourself heading toward the airport. At the first exit on your right (Post Road), the police usually sit so they can laser you as you’re heading north (toward the airport). The police car sits on the north side of Post Road (just east of the on ramp), ready to make a right turn onto the onramp, and nail you. As you approach, it’s difficult to see them, but they are there.
