Highway 75 South of Lovers Lane

Motorcycle cop stands in the center median and waves people over from the left lane. Probably gunning them just north of the Lovers Lane bridge.

Dallas police cars sit on the shoulder behind one of the curves (usually between Spring Valley and Keller Springs) and then catch people who are driving faster than the rest of the traffic as they approach the toll plaza. The main thing to watch out for here is that in the past, Dallas police have rarely given tickets on the toll road–they’ve usually left it to highway patrol officers, so drivers are used to ignoring the regular police.

Royal Lane between Hillcrest and Preston Road

Do to the residential area/school zone/ and high accident rate in the general area, Police can be seen frequently around/within over a several blocks distance – usually standing among trees with hand-held radar. They are especially vigilant during the school year, this is an “all year round”” post. Their position along the street moves from place to place. The speed limit is 30 (non school zone) – typically the flow of traffic is about 45. “

Westbound royal ln at Camella Rd (between Hillcrest and Preston)

Motorcycle cops love to hide on Camella north of Royal clocking traffic speeding west down Royal. Irregular enforcement, but when there’s a cop there, he’s there all afternoon into the evening. I was walking by once many years ago and talked to the cop running the trap; it’s usually 15 over but occasionally some jerk cop will stop for 10 over, which is quite easy to do in the close to mile-long straight-away. If there’s nobody in front of you, do yourself a favor and slow down when you hit the first light west of Hillcrest (cross street is Edgemere – there’s a school on the right just before the light). If you have a detector and know you got hit in time to stop for the next sidestreet (Tibbs) after that light, you can turn left or right and take sidestreets to Preston to avoid the cop. Usually the cop will only target cars once they can no longer turn off on Tibbs. Cop always flags down by hand, no chases. Chasing into the Preston/Royal intersection would be a nightmare; if you have no front license plate and can avoid the cop who will be standing in the middle of the road, running for it is an option, though of course not legal and not recommended.
