Gaskins Road near Patterson Avenue

Richmond, VirginiaJun 17, 20050 Comments

Travelling southbound on Gaskins, just before you hit the cemetery on Right, you’d notice a Henrico county cop waiting in a hidden driveway sorta thing. When he’s there, he gets one after the other, pulling over into the cemtery 🙂

Interstate 95 near I95- 55 mph posted zones

Richmond, VirginiaApr 11, 20051 Comments

Local police car sits along I-95 in the posted 55 mph zone & tags the last car in a group of cars all exceeding the speed limit. Witnessed the same selective method with a rolling vehicle on the way north. Beware of selective enforcement methods in the posted 55 mph zone around Richmond!

Interstate 95 south near Interstate 64 West

Richmond, VirginiaMar 08, 20050 Comments

Headed South on 95 you come over the Hill and he was hidden under the overpass. The area from Parham rd. exit through the 64 west exit area a revenue generating heaven for cops. That area is called a "Safety Zone" and the fines are steep. Speed has little to do with the accidents there, poor design of entrance/exit ramps is the real cause.

US Highway 1 & 301 near US Highway 1 & 301

Richmond, VirginiaAug 08, 20040 Comments

Refrain from driving Jefferson Davis Highway (US 1 & 301) unless you live or visiting a relative located near this highway. People typically drive WAY below the speed limit on JDH. However, police in the City of Richmond and Chesterfield County constantly pull people over for minor driving infractions.

Always be on the lookout in the city portion, especially near Bellmeade. In Chesterfield County, the following are Hot Spots: DuPont (Cogbill & Jeff Davis), Falling Creek (7-11 in the median strip), Route 144 & JDH, Willis Road, Shooters Billiard’s, underpass at VA 288 expressway and several other locations.

The speed limit is 25 from Hull Street to Maury Street, 35 from Maury Street to Harwood/Hopkins Road, 40 from Harwood/Hopkins to city border and 45 in the majority of Chesterfield County. There is one stretch of 55 beyond the Chester area.

For the police, this is really the only way they have to help cut crime along this business corridor that runs over 20 miles long. This is a high crime corridor that even features a prostitution-free zone at Bells Road (VA 161) and JDH, and drug problems and robberies.

This is NOT speedtrap, but I felt it should be addressed to all of towners! The police along this stretch of highway are only doing their job and trying to restore 1/301 a major business corridor that is safe. In most cases, the police are friendly unless you become hostile!
