Glebe Road near US Highway Lee Highway

Arlington, VirginiaOct 25, 20050 Comments

2100 Block of Glebe Road just South of Lee Highway – West Corner of 21st Street next to the SunRise Assit. Living Home.
Glede Road is a four lane divided road and can’t believe it has only a 30 MPH posted limit – I’m sure the speed rating for this road is easily 35-45 MPH. But you know Arlington – they need to milk the public for every penney. The Office typically hides in the shadows of the trees just on the corner of 21st & Glebe and it’s very difficult to see them on Sunny days when the trees cast a shadow over the intersection. There are also only one speed limit sign on this section of road if you are coming off of Lee Highway which can easily be missed. They were shooting Laser at this intersection on on 10/17/2005 around noon and will pull you over for anything over 10 MPH.

Quincy Street near 15th, Just North of Washington Lee High School, past the bridge over I-66

Arlington, VirginiaJul 06, 20050 Comments

Cops will be parallel parked and hidden on 15th street by the bike path, usually in marked cars. It would be just as safe to travel at 30 or 35 mph, but they will enforce 25 mph. I got a ticket there a few years back and I still see them hiding there, sometimes under the shade from the trees on hanging down over the sidewalk from the park. I guess they’re trying to catch high schoolers from Washington Lee or H-B Woodlawn

US Highway 1 Jefferson Davis near Exit Number National Airport Exit

Arlington, VirginiaMar 11, 20050 Comments

Driving north on route 1 just before the National Airport exit 2 Arlington police officers will stand in the highway and radar cars then direct them to pull over. This is a 3 lane divided highway that is a 35mph zone (but should be at least 45mph, soon after it does become 45mph).

N. George Mason Street near 10th St. North Street

Arlington, VirginiaMar 03, 20050 Comments

Two officers, one standing on roadway, with laser and other on side street (10th street). Officers take turns pulling over motorists, have you double park less than 20 feet from intersection and then later move forward and park in front of a fire hydrant during ticket-writing process.

Egress from situation is then what amounts to a 5-point U-turn to get back onto N. George Mason off 10th St. North -which, btw, is effectively one lane because of legal parking on both sides of the street.

Glebe Road near Military Road

Arlington, VirginiaJun 22, 20040 Comments

On Glebe Road, either coming up the hill from Chain Bridge (mornings) or heading down the hill toward Chain Bridge (evenings), cops frequently set up traps. Coming up the hill, they sit on the left berm in the curve; going down they sit on on a little dirt median. Either way, they’re hidden until you’re right up on them, and the speed limit there is 25 — which makes no sense at all, because there are no houses there, and the adjoining residential area has a speed limit of 35!
