Madison, Wisconsin Speed Traps
Near Sun Prairie – Rattman Rd.
Speed limit is 40 mph. Dane County Police will sit in private driveways clocking in both directions, sometimes hidden by bushes. Usually sit there in late morning and early afternoon. When they pull the offender over to write the ticket, the police cruiser sits well into the driving lane blocking proper traffic flow due to no shoulder on that particular piece of road. There is a double yellow line in that area and you must cross that line into the oncoming lane to get past the police cruiser and the person who has been pulled over. I’m sure that is not a safety issue, is it?
1400 Block of East Johnson
as described in the news on Monday, speed trap scheduled the week of December 14,2009
Routine is lawn chair on median, chase cars around the corner or over the Yahara bridge. Either way…east or westbound, routine is same
12/18 Beltine Rimrock, Verona Road, Whitney Way
Frequently see unmarked Chrysler products tucked off to the side of the highway at the Rimrock overpass capturing westbound traffic. No chase cars observed, just a one-off State Patrol.
Same deal between Verona Road/Midvale overpass and Whitney Way. One unmarked Chrysler product on the side of the road. Again, westbound targets.
East Johnson at Yahara Bridge (Tenney Park)
Officer sits in a lawn chair in the median, shooting East. Chase cars parked on Marston Ave., Baldwin St. or Few St. around the corner, victims are pulled over out of sight of the new prey. 25 MPH…fish in a barrel.
Opposite direction: shooter sits just before the Yahara Bridge, catching Eastbound traffic. Chase cars sit out of sight over the bridge in the utility drive. Short hop for shift change as First Street City of Madison Garage is right there.
Plenty of targets.
Old Middleton Road between Old Sauk Rd and Whitney Way
Police in marked and unmarked car frequently patrol and strictly enforce 30 mph limit. Many tickets issued.
